We finally had our ceremony for our wedding. We had a small but lovely Hindu wedding ceremony at Magdalena Grand Resort in Tobago.
We were able to pull it off without major disaster. Sure enough there were a few minor annoying incidents but overall it was a success and a great memory.
Here are some of the lessons learned for having a destination wedding.
Travelling by air with wedding favors plus wedding clothes can be quite annoying and expensive. The TSA and airline rules for baggage fares are annoying. Beware of the 50 lbs limit per suitcase and be prepared to get charged extra for some airlines. That sucks and I wish airlines would make exceptions for people who are travelling to get married.
Having easy to assemble gift bags and wedding favors are helpful. Local souvenirs make great gifts and lessen the amount of stuff for travel.
Hiring a local wedding coordinator is a good idea. Our coordinator and photographer we fun and easy to work with.
Experiences probably make the best gifts for guests who are going to travel. We took ours for a tour of the beautiful Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool.
Buffet dinner at the hotel restaurant turned out much better for guests than plated dinner. They were able to have a wide selection of choices for dinner and able to try new foods.
I got my makeup, hair and henna done by a friend of mine from school who now has her own business Henna by Neesa. See the henna design she did for me in the pics.
I enjoyed being in Tobago for the wedding. Food was excellent, weather was great, and the scenery was gorgeous. Looking forward to going back to relax next time. If you have any questions about planning a destination wedding please feel free to reach out. Will add some more pics after we get them from our photographer.
